Recycling on Cowal, changes to services

From Monday 20th April, the refuge department in Cowal will begin to collect refuge and recycling on alternative weeks.  The wheeled bin and bag recycling service provided by us (Fyne Futures) on a fortnightly basis is being replaced with a wheeled bin only service run directly by the council.  All of your recycling will now go in the blue recycling bin, which will be able to take paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, plastic food tubs, pots, trays and cans.  Our bags will no longer be used in Cowal.

By now those in these areas will have received a letter advising of upcoming changes.  Householder information packs are in the process of being delivered by the council.  From Monday 23rd March to Friday 10th April the council will be delivering Blue Bins to households that at present don’t recycle.

Those householders who at present receive an assisted refuse collection will continue to do so once the new service starts.  Householders can apply for an assisted uplift collection and will be assessed before this is approved.

If a householder puts the wrong type of waste in their new blue recycling bin, the bin will have a tag explaining the problem placed on it.  The bin will not be emptied until the incorrect material has been removed from the bin.
